new border-free glass necklaces

I worked on some new necklace charms this weekend, created from vintage paper fragments and pieces of clear glass.

hi! i have been dabbling with this kind of jewelry a little, and i'm totally fascinated with this set. how did you get them to fuse together? without the solder? i just love what you are making, keep them coming!!

Jenny,

Hi! I actually used a glaze/sealant to adhere the bits of paper to the piece of glass. On three of them, I glued some paper bits to both the front and back of the charm- that makes it look a little more dimensional. It took several layers of sealant. Hope that helps!

Ok little girl these are wonderful. Shopko has a heater on sale this week for 18.00 so check it out. Are you warm tonight did your honorable boyfriend fire up the furnace?? Or did you??? How do you decide on what your next dabble will be??? Love ME

Thanks, mom! Our local Shopko recently closed, so I'll have to check out some other option. We ended up calling the company that installed our heater- turns out the installer switched some wires around and didn't turn on the gas. So we're delightfully warm this evening!

I've been wanting to drill holes in glass for awhile now, and with some helpful advice from dad finally got the right tools to do so!

ok, one more q, did your dad tell you about one of those glass drill bits? do they make them that small to be able to drill holes?

Jenny,

They're so much fun- go for it! I did a few with color photocopies, and it really changes the look so the possibilities are endless.

I used Black and Decker Glass and Tile drill bits. I asked for diamond-encrusted drill bits that I read that some stained glass people use, but the guy at the hardware store recommended the glass and tile bits. I purchased the very smallest size they had- threw away the packing, though, so I'm not sure what size. All I know is that is was the size smaller than the 3/16".
